Pet Collars - 1" Medium & Larger Dogs

Everyone loves this collection – not surprising, given that the wider width allows us to design the most intricate shapes and use more colors. 1" products are appropriate for more substantial dogs like Rottweilers and Golden Retrievers. Border Collies and Dalmatians are medium-sized breeds that can also wear 1" wide products. For most dogs, the smallest size range that fits is usually the best choice. A collar adjusted to it’s smallest setting becomes somewhat bulky due to all the webbing doubled back.

About Harnesses for Dogs
Harnesses are becoming more popular, especially with small dogs. Using our Roman, or Adjustable, harness removes pressure from the trachea, a relatively fragile area. A harness can also be helpful for dogs prone to neck and back problems, like Dachshunds and Corgis. Harnesses are sized by the adjustability of the girth. To determine the size, measure snugly around the ribcage, just behind the front legs. Then add in about 5% extra for comfort. To put the harness on, unbuckle the girth. Place the dog’s head through the opening formed by the shoulder straps.

Pick up the left front leg, and place it over the sternum strap. Adjust and buckle the girth. Adjust the shoulders. When properly fitted, the girth should sit close to front legs, not back towards the hips. A harness that’s too long will put pressure on the dog’s belly– not comfy! By evenly adjusting the shoulders to a shorter length, the front-to-back length of the harness can be reduced. The harness should only be worn when the dog is actively engaged in a walk. A harnesses is very accessible to teeth and can be destroyed in moments! Lupine® products are not recommended for tie-out.
